How do you feel about downshifting?

Have a nice day, everyone! Actually the subject is quite specific.
However, I want to clarify that we are not talking about "originally Russian downshifting", ala "renting an apartment in Moscow and kicking a bullshit in Goa", but about its more productive form: moving from big cities to provincial towns (or maybe even to the countryside ), accompanied by the purchase of their own land, the construction of a house (a house, a palace, a hut, as you like), planting a tree, raising a son. ))) And of course, the transition to a remote form of employment.
You see, I myself have recently been burning with this idea and would like to receive feedback from the IT community on this topic.
Maybe someone has already tried to implement a similar idea or, like me, plans to change their lifestyle in the future? In general, in your experience, how realistic is it to switch or find a well-paid remote job, or does it all come down to banal freelancing? Maybe I'm the only one drawn closer to nature, and you, for example, are fascinated exclusively by the lights of big cities? And if not, what prevents such a transition?
I would be very grateful for any advice and comments. I would like to understand whether this is heresy or the soul of a programmer gravitates towards the beautiful.)))) Thank you!
