How do you compress graphics files on file servers?

The problem with the fact that users store graphic files up to 13 MB in size begins to grow, I would like to collect information about files larger than 2 MB once a week and then compress them. There must be some ready-made software solution, can anyone tell me something?

Graphic files are practically not compressed without loss of quality. It is a fact.
So we don't compress.
You just need to clearly understand what the problem is -

  • Not enough storage space? - so add disk space, it's not expensive.
  • It is a pity for money for disks? - so maybe in this case the files are simply not needed and should they be deleted?
  • They interfere with backup - correctly configure backup
  • Scattered across different directories, duplicated many times? - use deduplication tools.
