How do I license VMware vSphere products?
Good afternoon.
I just can't figure out the licensing policy for VMware vSphere products. We have 5 servers in which 2 CPUs are installed (10 cores each). Judging by the vmware site, the "Standard" edition is suitable for our tasks.
Licenses are issued under the CPU, this seems to be understandable, but then the questions begin, is it really necessary to buy the "Standard Acceleration Kit" + 4 licenses during the initial purchase (we have 10 physical processors), or can we get by with just buying licenses? Also, this kit already includes "vCenter Server Standard", but is it really needed, especially with a small number of VMs (about 10) or can you do without "vCentrer"?
Forced licenses need to buy technical support for at least 12 months, do I need to re-purchase licenses or technical support after 12 months?

Without vCenter, it makes no sense to buy Standard, because you won't be able to use vMotion and other features.
If you don't need vCenter and Standard Edition features, use the free version.
After 12 months, you will only need to buy technical support.

There is a better way - to contact the sales people, they will not only explain, but also kiss you.
