How do forums see the user's IP?

Hashel to the forum (IPB), logged in, for example, with VPN Browsec.
My ip, browser, OS was highlighted there.
If I am directly logged in and change the IP, will it be displayed on the forum?
Or is only data saved there only after entering the login and password?
