How can I expand the memory of an instance?

How can you not add a new disk to the instance, but expand an existing one? In the Volumes section, I created a new volum and attached it to the desired instance, the disk appeared but is not used, how can I attach it to the existing one?
I also tried to change the existing volum by throwing memory into it, it shows that the memory has increased
Terminal: lsblk
xvda 202:0 0 15G 0 disk (was 10gb)
xvda1 202:1 0 10G 0 part / (as it was 10gb and left)
xvdf 202:80 0 5G 0 disk (this is the new volum I created)

well, you need to resize the partitions and the file system, it is advisable to do this by booting from a live distribution, and not from a working system , resize the ext4 xfs
partition
