Does AWS Cognito allow users to login to the application through social networks?

Some time ago I read that through social networks Cognito allows you to give access to users to any parts of the infrastructure, but not applications. The application could only be given access through a standard login and password. Colleagues say that now something seems to have changed a lot and now you can identify users through social networks in your web / mobile application. Is it true?
