How are dividends paid out correctly? Living on dividends alone?
How is the dividend paid out? I read that in 2017 Apple paid 63 per share, then 1 share cost 120-170 dollars. The question arises how people live only at the expense of dividend payments? Given that the payout for 1 share is so small, and its price is much higher?

You are looking in the wrong direction. Almost nobody buys stocks for dividends. Everyone buys them in order to sell them at a higher price later.
That is, it is very roughly speaking a financial pyramid, but having an economic basis with real production of values. And originally created not to deceive. Some businesses thrive, some don't.
In general, you need to think not aside how to invest, but how to choose someone to whom you can entrust your investments. And do not forget about diversification and choose several managers.
The main problem here is that those organizations that were originally created to take money from novice investors (ala forex) invest a lot of money in propaganda. For example, if you search on Google where to invest money, then such an instrument as a mutual fund is described in a negative light everywhere. Although this is the only state-regulated instrument.
And if you dig even deeper, even such funds, with sufficiently tight control from the state, have quite a few ways to cash in on novice investors.
In general, there are no simple answers to this question, you can hear many different opinions, but in the end, the truth is somewhere nearby.
