Home NAS: Synology DS115j or QNAP D1?

Need the most budget NAS for the home. Cases are the simplest and most understandable for everyone: smb, webDAV, Plex. The plex issue is especially and primarily of concern, since it is planned to store a relatively extensive (800GB 720p) movie library on us, which will be regularly updated.
Before that, there was WD My Cloud Home, but it was not satisfied with the lack of direct access (only through software), an incomprehensible speed limit when connecting via gigabit, some limitation of Plex capabilities (it was impossible to add your own libraries - only standard ones) and the absence of webDAV.

Some time ago, I was very disappointed in Synology and their ilk shelves. The dudes quite famously sensed the trend - and started selling "Linux in a box and with a relatively human face" despite the fact that for console lovers there is always the opportunity to put entware and dig deeper into the giblets.
But before you "carry your money" - you should understand what exactly the money is for ...
Iron - I will immediately say - g ... but . In this model, the processor is Marvell Armada 370 88F6707 (32-bit, 800MHz) and ... (watch your hands) ... 256MB of memory! Two hundred and fifty-six megs of memory, Carl! And don't deny yourself anything!
Why do they want to take seven and a half thousand Russian?
- Compact beautiful case
- Synology branded shell - the same "
(QNAP D1 is a little more powerful - 1100GHz ARM processor and a gig of memory and costs a little more - eight and a few kopecks)
At first I also wanted to buy something like that, but then I realized that they were stupidly trying to fuck me ... which is free of charge attached frail piece of iron.
Conclusion
If you want - "bought-configured-forgotten" - you can buy. If you want the maximum efficiency of investing money - any rusty ten-year-old system unit will be more powerful. But here, of course, it will be necessary to invest a proportional amount of effort

@rez0n

It is better to look towards some HP microserver.

@JoeRee

I left Synology for video surveillance and torrents, and for LAMP I made a server under Ubuntu...
