Home censorship for Youtube?

Hey!
Recently, there has been a need to restrict access to Youtube channels for a small child. Limit it, not completely ban it. Those. if there is a certain channel or channels in the subscriptions, then the child could watch only them and did not see any "recommended", etc.
Yes, I know that there is a "parental control" mode or whatever it is, but it does not work. Rather, it works, but not as it should. My patience snapped when I turned on the "Paddington engines" for the child, and later caught him watching a stream of a game about throwing a shovel (axe, scissors, etc.) at the head. Moreover, the stream was hosted by a crazy family, which in general fits the definition of "children's channel" therefore appeared in the "recommended".
Maybe there is some kind of web service, program or something similar where such channels would be thoroughly censored?
I tagged "Linux" because Linux Mint is installed on the child's laptop, maybe there is a way to create your own filter, say through hosts?

There is a YouTube Kids app for Android/iOS.
Т.е. формально ваш ребенок не в праве самостоятельно пользоваться сервисом.
Нужен фильтр? Этот фильтр, единственный – вы как родитель. Сидите с ребёнком, смотрите вместе. Только так.

If you turn off all history storage in Google settings for YouTube, then there will be no recommendations, only subscriptions, useful not only for children :)

I have a four year old daughter. I asked myself this question. YouTube Kids did not suit me due to the lack of any management. That is, apart from indicating the age of the viewer, everything else is at the discretion of Google and its advertising policy. As a result, "Mr. Max" just got me sick. Whatever the child watches, sooner or later it all comes down to this Max and his sister.
I found and use another program - YouTuze (available for both Android and iOS). In the free version, you can register up to 10 channels + separate videos and the child will be able to watch only them! The license (it seems to be about three dollars) removes the restriction.
And a bunch with "Kids Zone - Parental Controls & Child Lock" (Android) gives a generally amazing option. Only what is authorized by me can be launched on the tablet. The free version has up to 7 programs. You can configure autorun and exit the program with a password. In general, the child has no chance to see or start something wrong.

The question is very complicated, the easiest way is to look after yourself, not to leave the child alone with YouTube for a long time - any filters will not help. As an option - create playlists for more items and run them.

The admin himself, as a result, first hacked the Internet on TV at non-night time, then spat and bought the child a shockproof, waterproof phone, but without YouTube. Directly explained to him - I can not control the advertising that YouTube slips him. He said that I have a tablet in my bedside table, there is a YouTube on it, that after breakfast (and not while I sleep) he can ask and take it, look at it for a bit and put it back. And that's it. And the child stopped watching YouTube. But I explained everything to him, openly and without deceit, why and what I was doing. There are no problems, except for GRANDMA ... But she is not an administered object ...
