Head parking on WD hard drives?
Good day.
I've been using WD hard drives for several years now, some time ago I read that on Green series drives you need to disable head parking or increase the interval.
I found several articles on this topic that describe how to do this.
I chose this
DOS method from here
. Actually, I'm interested in what is better, to do an extended interval, or to disable parking completely?
Here is a quote
"wdidle3 /d - stop the timer, this setting completely disables head parking during operation (not recommended)"Why does the author not recommend? It is not clear to me, will this stop the parking of the heads altogether and will they hang out there, for example, when dismantling disks and transporting them, or only when they are working? If only at work, then why not recommend it? what could be the consequences?

I’ve been using greens for six years and don’t turn on any parking, I don’t know grief. You have grief feltings from the mind or from stupidity
And what is your problem with frequent parking of HDD heads? They are also Greens because at the slightest idle time they park and stop the spindle for energy saving. While there is frequent access, the disk responds promptly. If you need a quick reaction of the drive at any time, take Black. Although I only use Seagates, but this is a matter of taste. Good luck.
The Greens have been working for me for more than 5 years: both Winda was on one, and they are used as a file cleaner at home and at work. No problem. Put Windows on an SSD and you'll be happy.
And what exactly is the problem? Increase the interval, blue screens will appear - disable completely.
