Mikrotik

Have I made the right choice for building a network in an organization?

The task is to build a network in an organization where there are 40-50 PCs. Half of them are connected via wifi. I decided to choose Mikrotik as my base. The choice fell on the following models:

  1. Router Mikrotik RB3011UiAS-RM
  2. Switch Mikrotik CRS328-24P-4S+RM

I have not yet decided on the models of wifi points (can you advise?), But they will definitely have PoE to receive power from the switch.

2 servers and a Mikrotik CRS328-24P-4S+RM switch will be connected to the router. Connection of other equipment is not yet planned.

Rostelecom GPON provider. I think if it works out, I can ask you to connect the optics to the router, but even then the question arose about the SFP module. Which model is compatible with RTK?

I've never used Mikrotik before, but decided to look into it. So, do not throw slippers)

The irons are good.
The main thing is not to try to use CRS as a router. Despite the fact that the firmware allows it, its processor is low-performance. Therefore, any operations performed on the processor, and not the switch chip, will be extremely slow.

wAP ac or cAP ac for WiFi. The characteristics are almost identical. The first option allows you to mount it on the street, which is probably the main feature of the model.
I used wAP ac in the office - at that time they were equipped with a stand for installation "on a shelf", ties for mounting to a ceiling or a pole and a "hole" for mounting on a wall / ceiling.
Which model is compatible with RTK?

You need to ask the RTK itself, individually in each case. And then look for modules compatible with Mikrotik. There is no guarantee that it will be found or that it will work with both Microt and RTK. It's easier and more reliable to settle for their media converter or router in front of your equipment.

1. 3011 loses in price / power 4011
2. CRS328-24P - if you use less than 10 ports via POE, then the budget solution is also not so hot
3. As already said cAP / wAP (ac) + everything that can be connected by wire - must be connected wire
4. GPON + RTK + SFP +% anything% - not compatible (almost always at all (without talking from the RTK side), technically - extremely rarely and crutch) - the simplest and most reliable (widely used) - RTK modem in the bridge

Which model is compatible with RTK?

Here it is rather necessary to raise the question - which model is compatible with Mikrotik? Because Mikrotik does not chew any SFP - gigalins do not chew exactly, SNR can chew, its own SFP will chew for sure (although its price is higher). It's best to contact RTK and ask which SFP to put in order to make sure it works, maybe they will even come with their own, at least they came to us (though not RTK) that way - there was a secas for a long time on the subject of "why this x..va the piece of iron does not work", as a result, the prov came with his own :)
