Will work or not - depends on the compatibility of the equipment and available licenses. As far as I know, OLT is licensed by connected subscribers and licenses for ONUs of the same vendor are cheaper than licenses for ONUs from a third-party vendor. Therefore, operators prefer to install their ONUs for subscribers.
Different devices from different vendors are not compatible by default. Due to licensing restrictions. But this is also solvable. For the station part (OLT), you can buy a license from the manufacturer, which gives the right to connect subscriber terminals of third-party (any) vendors. The price of one license usually = the price of one ONT terminal as a rule.
