From admin to manager?

Good day to all. I will not paint a person. In short. Worked as a leading administrator in a bank. Realizing that I don’t want to grow into the head of the department, I’m thinking of becoming a PM. I found vacancies for beginner PMs in offices that build server rooms, supply iron, etc. It is clear that with a bias towards developing a steeper perspective. I wonder what awaits PM in companies with a focus on enterprise infrastructure .. of course I would like to work for myself in the future, which is again easier for "PM developers". You can't assemble a team of admins... I would like to hear the opinion of experienced PMs on this matter.
Maybe quit administration altogether?
Tips are also welcome. Can go to hosters or data centers?
Thanks in advance.

A simple techie and a manager are very different directions. Managers have a lot of intrigues; make "friends", but understand that you are, until your interests conflict, etc. And already far later, managing people, the ability to force them to do what they do not want. And few in any company will be wrong. If you had worked as a department head, you would have faced this, but perhaps for this very reason you did not want to. So, it is worth 10 more times to think.

PM without managerial talent is a bad PM.
In your case, I think DevOps would be the best choice.
And you will not lose the years of administration, and work for yourself - freelancing - as much as possible.
