Flash programmer interview

I'm starting to work as a service station in a startup and I immediately need to conduct an interview for the position of a flash programmer. In addition to flash, he will need to deal with possibly an adobe media server and, possibly, a website.

I interviewed people in Java, C, C++ a lot, but I don’t know what to ask in this case!
Does it make sense to ask to write code? Or if such a programmer can't find cycles in a linked list, it doesn't matter?

What to ask?

Does it make sense to ask to write code?

I believe that it has in any case, regardless of the language. And not necessarily some difficult implementation of unknown algorithms, but the most banal. Nowadays, the main thing is not to be able to program brilliantly, but to be able to competently search for information, so no one says that a programmer should know everything and everything, but if he cannot solve a few simple problems, then he is a programmer like a dead giraffe.
