Firefox/MacOSX: Tab transition between form elements doesn't work?

I have a habit of switching between form elements by pressing the tab key. Just discovered that elements <select/>in Firefox don't get focus and are simply skipped. Everything is fine in other browsers. Is it fixable?
FF 3.6.16 MacOS X 10.6.5

In 4.0 everything is fine. System 10.6.7.
Personal question: what pushes you not to update the software?

Try forcing "tabindex" on an element and see what happens
