File operations statistics?

How can I track statistics on file operations. what process, how much read or wrote down for the current session. in iotop I can only see the current options. I would like to see the processes in total.

The most reliable way: take from /proc/ for example, see /proc/${pid}/io by chance is not what you are looking for.
