Failed to connect USB device to Ubuntu virtual machine. Extension pack plugin installed. How to fix?

Version VB 5.0.4 (downloaded today), Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack installed (also downloaded today). The main OS is Windows 10, in VirtualBox - the Ubuntu 14.04 installer (I wanted to install it on a USB-HDD via VB and caught a problem with connecting this very HDD). Thank you in advance.
Here is the report from VirtualBox itself:
Failed to attach USB PHD 3.0 Silicon-Power device [0100] to Ubuntu 14.04 x64 virtual machine.
USB device 'PHD 3.0 Silicon-Power' with UUID {73fbee8b-7461-4785-8b78-40d821e5a15a} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

So the device is used by the host system. Unmount the partition, then forward.

I had the same problem with Mac OS on a virtual machine. Reinstalled VM - on the new version everything already worked. Perhaps when such problems occur, it is worth installing different versions of the VM one by one.

I suffered with this issue for a long time, but it helped in the BIOS -> USB configuration to disable the Intel xHCI mode (it was originally smart auto)
