Encyclopedia with XML/JSON/TXT output?

I, as an exercise and fun, am making a small interactive talker, I almost taught her to speak and attached this thing to google talk, now I want to teach her to answer questions. Something like this: you enter “what is [a dog]” there, and the talker tells you a couple of sentences from the definition of a dog in a voice.
But I just can’t find a service that would give definitions in a digestible form so that I don’t have to parse HTML in Yandex.encyclopedias and all that. Maybe someone knows?

Use the Wikipedia API, for example. There are many formats out there, including XML and JSON.
