Encoder to microcontroller: PNP or NPN?
I want to buy an inexpensive parallel encoder and experiment with it. Firmware, of course, at my disposal. The encoder is available in two versions: PNP and NPN, according to the type of input transistor (in the sense of which transistor to put at the input of the circuit). Which one is better to take to fit the digital port of the microcontroller? Or, whatever one may say, each line needs a corresponding transistor?
