Driver for HDR through software?

Is there a software HDR filter in nature for the main monitor for all applications in the form of a driver for pre-processing the video stream before displaying it on the monitor?

Needed to adaptively increase the depth of image contrast without losing dark areas.

Or any other option for a 350cd monitor without built-in HDR.
