Does xen work on ubuntu out of the box?

Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS I
installed the XEN hypervisor, when I reboot into grub I choose to boot with xen support, it throws me back to the menu.
Where can I see the download logs and error output? Or does anyone know what the problem is?
