Does it make sense when looking for work to show the source code?

Does it make sense when looking for work to show sources from the last place of work (there are parts of the code that do not violate the NDA)? Are they often asked? Does it make sense to propose?

If you can post some code to your GitHub profile, that's points in your favor. An additional argument for the recruiter to consider your candidacy. But of course, it's even better to file a couple of your Open Source projects so that it's clear that this is your code.
At interviews, no one will look at your code, but they can look at the security service to estimate your level.

It seems to me that for the most part no one will look at the source code. More precisely, no one will watch more often, because HR is engaged in the selection of personnel, and they do not fumble for the code. And they are unlikely to distract employees for each interviewee so that one of the developers looks at the code. Perhaps when choosing between you and someone else, they can also look at the source code.
It seems very strange to me to write projects just for the sake of a line in the resume)) Of course, a line in the resume is nice, but it's better to just do pet projects for your own pleasure.
You can also write articles on the same hub, but it seems to me that they will be read more))

According to the statistics from the github, the sources look, 2-3 files. Nobody really cares.
But in general, if you don’t specify a github, then they don’t ask.
There will still be an oral interview.
