Does it make sense to change i5-7600K to i7-7700K?

Config: i5-7600K, 16Gb RAM, 1060 6Gb, SSD, MB on Z270. I haven't overclocked it yet and I'm not sure if it's necessary. As you know, 7700K is the top for 1151v1 and while they are still on sale, you can jump into the last car of the outgoing train of this platform. The question is, is it necessary? What will I get by replacing i5 with i7? It makes no sense to completely change the platform, IMHO, at the moment, taking into account a non-top-end video card. The use of a computer is standard home use, well, sometimes I also use virtual machines for tests.
