SSD and Sata 6gb/c - does the number of channels matter?

I am faced with the choice of a dedicated server configuration. I want to hang 4 SSD disks in raid10 on a supermicro motherboard. SSD drives have a read/write speed of 400/500 mb/s.
BUT, the motherboard indicates that there are only 2 channels / connectors for sata 6gbit / s
One specialist generally said that it doesn’t matter how many channels, that the sata 6gb bus is only one and the speeds are divided by the number of interfaces. Is it true?
There are also 2 other servers to compare. One with msi motherboard where 6 channels. The read / write speed shows 500/800mb / s through the dd utility. On another server, where there is a supermicro motherboard (2 connectors), the read / write speed is 1.5-2 times worse. True, there are other disks, although the speeds should not differ much. Both systems are in raid10 and there are no controllers.

Hello. In a raid, speed determines the slowest drive or interface. If you have 4 ssd drives and only 2 sata3 ports, and the rest is sata2, then everything will work at sata2 speed. Verified. I recommend to push the controller.
