Does a SIM card from another country guarantee protection against interception of SMS by Comrade Major?
Recently there was news about the interception of SMS messages with Telegram authorization codes by the MTS operator and special services. Durov advised not to use only SIM cards of Russian operators. If a friend brings me a SIM card from somewhere in England, and I use it to link services here, will Russian operators be able to intercept SMS or access it?
This is not about Telegram specifically, I put 2f there, but in general.

Doesn't guarantee.
Your card will work in roaming through equipment on the territory of the Russian Federation, respectively, the local telecom operator will have access to SMS. The best option would be to register in services on this card as a friend in England itself.
In my opinion, SMS will go through roaming, i.e. through a local operator. there is already a question of encryption - if it is (I don’t think - I wouldn’t allow such holes), then the local ones will not intercept.
If a SIM card is used to receive SMS in the country where it comes from (not in roaming) and has never been registered in Russia in roaming, then this hole can be excluded.
We went, activated right there by SMS, arrived. We keep the SIM card in a drawer in case of emergency.
Use virtual SMS numbers to register in services.
