Do they pay more for office work, or how do layout designers earn $1,000?

It takes place in Ukraine. I work remotely as a wordpress developer, I know a little more acf, I make average sites on wp, I know average jquery, + buns like scss, etc. I work on a project basis, 6 hours a day, I earn about $300-350. For such knowledge, is this normal or is it very little, who thinks?
Why did I have such a question.
A friend says that she worked in the office, and says that it is in "cool" companies that do not hire remote workers, just an html coder knowing only html and css can earn $ 1000. My opinion, I think it's bullshit. What do you think?
The person says that with my knowledge of a wordpress developer, which is clearly higher than just a layout designer, I could work in the Office, it was in the Office that I could raise more than $ 1000, and now I'm kind of being exploited.
My friend works in Privat Bank with a salary of 17k UAH, while in addition to layout, he knows js at a fairly good level and works in the Office.
I was advised to open an account on linkedin in order to find better offers there, and you don’t even have to look at sites like work ua, what they write there for 10k UAH remotely, you need to know at least the basics of php and jquery and wp, on average, this is a hoax and this very little and generally only in the Office knowing just html and css you can earn almost 3 times more.

$300-350 per day is quite a good result for a coder. But to raise the rate to $1000 per day, you need to gain at least 15 years of experience and be able to solve any problems in your field, quickly master all new technologies and always be in the know about what is happening in your field.

Special cases are possible, but globally on the market, layout designers who do not know zhs are not needed by anyone today.

The eternal question of injustice in our world.
Extensive knowledge, rich experience, personal qualities do not guarantee a good salary, and the opposite is true. The search for employees is carried out by HR, each of them has their own approach to how to select personnel. At technical interviews, the same thing - every interviewer, especially if he is an avid programmer, but never a manager or a recruiter - has his own approaches, practices, and they all make mistakes too. If you see that a person knows less than you but gets more, there is absolutely nothing to be surprised at. It means that you were not at that time and in that place where HR was looking for personnel for a good salary.
It all comes down to the fact that you are worth as much as you can sell yourself for.
I’ll also say - who is recruiting to the office? At least the one who has money for an office. So, he also has money for personnel.

knowing only html and css

It depends on how well you know html / css and what tasks you can solve, and how productive you are.
And whether they are ready (and able) to learn further and develop.

$300-350 is not a salary. Working for such a penny is stupid.
You can earn much more than $ 1000 as a layout designer, both in the office and remotely (first available vacancies: tyts , tyts ).

Go to several interviews, and then you will know exactly how much they are willing to pay you in your city.
For different typesetting pay different money. Here is an example of when layout is expensive

You can sell the same thing to different people for $100 and $1000. But for such a skill, and if the client is a domestic public, then $ 500 per month. at a load of 4 hours a day. fine.

On the example of the Russian labor market, I can say that remotely you can raise about the same money as working in the office, on average it can be minus 15-20%.
Coders are different, first of all, without js it is difficult to imagine at least some professional layout now, and our ceiling is somewhere around $ 2.5k. Those who work with some kind of cms, as a rule, are not considered a super-skilled workforce, they receive at the level of webmasters.

There is a demand, there is a supply. Indeed, there are companies that pay more, there are those who pay less. There is a price for which you want to offer your services and there is a price that the customer is willing to pay. The market is very wide

In general, I came to the following conclusion. I called everyone I knew working at the factory in supermarkets, trams, cash desks, and other similar professions and said that they could slowly learn html and css and in 3 months get a job in galley offices and mow $ 1k.

wp rarely goes near money, because every student knows wp. Another question is how to know wp - but employers rarely think about it.
Goodies like scss - learn in a day, jquery at an average level - a month. So your stack is weak - the consequence is low zp. Add a couple of css frameworks like bootstrap and fondation, pure js (a must-have in general), something like js frameworks like angular and vue. Builders like gulp and webpack are very necessary, and as a result, you will have to read about npm and node. That's when it will be possible to talk about $1k and that's not a guarantee. Of course, you also need to be able to "cook correctly" all this.
