Do QEMU/KVM and VmWare emulate AHCI(SATA) controllers?

In VirtualBox, for example, you can add a virtual SATA controller. I did not find such options in VmWare and QEMU/KVM. Can't they emulate AHCI (not IDE)? Very sad if so...

I won’t say for VmWare, QEMU can. The syntax of the command line is, however, vyrviglazny.
See for example lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2011-11/msg03537.html

Use SAS, it's more advanced SATA.
