Do photos affect the promotion and ranking of the site?

Hello!
Please tell me this moment.
Today I heard that supposedly photos affect the search engine and that if these photos of yours from the site are not only on your site, but also on other sites, the search engine evaluates this as plagiarism and can lower it in the search ranking?

Working with images is exactly the same complex process as working with the site as a whole. And the ranking factors for an image are much more than just a formal one - a unique image or not.
Do you know how much the aspect ratio of an image affects?
How much does image quality affect?
How does it affect - a commercial request or not?
How does image contrast affect the quality of the request (commercial or not)?
Start with Google's help on the _ground rules for product images_, where they recommend WHAT to do. Continue the same with a certificate from the merchant center. And then try to conduct experiments on your projects, observing at least these basic recommendations.
And this is not to mention more subtle maxims, such as the extremely strong influence of those images that have been in the top for a long time, on what you need to be in order to displace them. The
bot now evaluates a lot of parameters for a photo:
0. The quality of the original image.
1. Are there previews with different aspect ratios.
2. Is there a preview with different resolutions for point 1.
3. What is the contact image.
4. What is the background of the image.
5. What is the intent of the request - commercial or informational.
6. Depending on point 5, what are the factors of images that have been in the top for a long time.
And all this is done without the impact of slowing down the page.
In other words, the bot can index your HD image at 10 megapixels, while the visitor sees a micro preview of which is enough for his current display conditions.
The main thing that the site works quickly in relation to the fact that the bot indexes the maximum image quality. What is now easily done by any normal specialist in this field. That is, the visitor should see exactly what will be useful to him in the ratio - the quality of the screen to the current channel. The bot should index the maximum image quality. And these are just the basic factors.
Optimizing (reducing) the size of images without losing quality speeds up page loading.
If the overall acceleration is noticeable, then over time it gives a plus in positions. Image
optimization is not limited to working with the file size.
But also with - providing all options for preview images to the search robot.
Preferably in all available resolutions - 1x1 4x3 16x9 original.
In appropriate resolutions for different types of screens.
As a result, in projects where everything is done correctly, one picture in a product card or article is actually represented by at least 10 different files.
And Google really appreciates it.
Yandex is smaller, but also loves.
The first main influencing factor on what requirements are placed on the image is the quality of the request - a commercial request or an informational one.
If the request is commercial (roughly speaking, buy sneakers), then the image must meet the following basic requirements:
1. Have a white or light gray background.
2. have maximum contrast to the background.
3. have as few unnecessary objects in the frame as possible.
4. must have a resolution higher than that of competitors, but no more than 10mp
5. file size must be no more than 12 megabytes.
6. The image must be accessible through the src attribute of the img tag, must be part of the markup (product, or imageobject) within which there must be additional links to preview files for aspect ratios 16x9 4x3 1x1.
If the request is informational, then points 1, 2, 3 are not taken into account.
These are the basic requirements, but there are a number of additional ones.
For example, if products whose images are subject to one rule have been hanging in the top of the search results for a long time, and the resource that broadcasts them is trusted for Google, then in order to get a plus from your images, you will need to follow the same rules. For example, a store sells flower pots. All photos of the planters they have are a gray solid background, the planter itself, inside which is a pot of greens. If you come in with your photo planters, then for the fastest result you should take the photo in the same way - with greenery. That is, if you take high-quality photos, follow all the rules, but there is just a planter against a solid background, then your images will always be lower than the images of the trust site, and as a result, have less impact on the position of the product itself in the main issue. It might sound like " but in fact, everything is quite simple and is related to the percentage of the color ratio in the image, which affects the ranking, if a trusted site hangs in the top. That is, Google begins to consider that with a high degree of probability for this product, the image should be similar to the one posted. And if this turns out to be the case, the image grows. There are a lot of such subtleties in working with images. And their number will only increase, due to the fact that the importance of such content as "video" or "images" is now becoming higher than text. At least in Google, at least in certain niches where the image is key for the visitor. And they all start with one thing - the image must be formally unique for Google. but in fact, everything is quite simple and is related to the percentage of the color ratio in the image, which affects the ranking, if a trusted site hangs in the top. However (the opinion of the author of the video):
To advance in the search for pictures - yes.
For the growth of positions in the search - in Yandex, no influence was noticed at all on any project.
In Google - there is, but insignificant compared to other factors.
For me, there is only one criterion for the effectiveness of the methodology: if I invest the next month's budget mainly in this work, how big a plus in terms of traffic and earnings from the project can I get and after how long (it doesn’t matter if it’s my own project or a client one). And in this sense, firstly: 1) traffic from Yandex images and Google images interests me last (since it converts very poorly in most niches compared to traffic from web search) 2) there are many factors when investing a budget which I will get more return on improving 3) some increase in traffic from Google alone as a result of working with images is not enough in most cases. My experience is that strategically these are not as useful actions as Google claims. And this is always a matter of style and experience of the optimizer and possession of certain tools. And then it's not surprising
Conclusion: At the moment, INFLUENCE in Google, much less in Yandex, in the future WILL INFLUENCE in all search engines.
