Development in a virtual machine? How to split tasks on one PC?

Hello. I want to stop "keeping all my eggs in one basket" and separate the desktop, home and ... let's say for working with reporting (there is specific software). That is, if the system flies, then in order to be able to simply drag virtual machines for other tasks to a new Windows and not worry that everything needs to be installed again, and so on.

You need to work - went into the virtual machine and worked. I wanted to play - please, here is a virtual machine for games, for example.

How is this done today? I downloaded virtualbox and put a couple of wins there (by the way, do I need to buy a license separately for this task?)?

Or is there some other better solution to my problem? In addition to "storing eggs", services that are unnecessary from development are constantly hanging, percent and memory are eaten. In general, I want some kind of order in this regard.

1. Yes, licenses need to be purchased separately.
2. It will be problematic to play.
3. You don't have any problem, you "thought it up".
