Developing Medical Imaging Software: Where to Start?

Hey Habr. I work as a radiologist, I want to develop programs for visualization of radiation studies or software for devices. I understand that this question is about nothing and everything at the same time, so I ask you to help indicate approximately where you can start and where to move. Is it worth getting a second profile education? What languages are best suited for this? Is math necessary?

@Doctorrad

Is it worth getting a second profile education?

As you wish, do not carry knowledge behind you. On the other hand, in any normal university, the main thing is to teach the student how to study. You have already graduated from the university, if it was normal, and you are a normal student, then you already know how to study. Why waste time?
What languages are best suited for this?

What do you know. You don’t know what I recommend Delphi, the entry threshold is zero, and the possibilities significantly exceed most of the hyped languages. There is a free version for non-commercial use
Is math necessary?

The main task of programming is the creation of a MATHEMATICAL model of a phenomenon or process.

Is math necessary?

Useful, but you're a radiologist - knowledge of mathematics is assumed.
Software for devices

What languages are best suited for this?

Depends on the devices. But in any case, you will have to start with programming itself, the basics of cs.

programs for visualization of radiation studies or software for devices.

If you want to work in a company that develops this, you will probably have to study physics and delve into mathematics, in addition to programming.
If you just want to develop software, start by learning the format in which data is exported. (emnip, so non-trivial enough)

And if you wanted to go into private practice, would you go to study as a builder and build your own clinic? After that, they would have mastered a dozen more professions))
Excuse me, who are you?
You are a doctor.
There is no need to shoulder all the tasks on your shoulders. There are other people, it is worth thinking about joining forces, partnerships, for example.
