Desktop stopped working correctly ubuntu 20.04, how to get it back to normal?

I have a GNOME graphical shell Desktop
folder, when viewed through the file manager, with folders, but they are not displayed on the desktop.
Half of the functions in the context menu, such as open in the terminal or create a new folder, have also gone.
In the .config/user-dirs.dirs file, the path to desktop is correct.
Resetting GNOME to factory settings did not help.
Only when you start the xfdesktop desktop manager everything appears and works, but I would like to return the correct work in the native format

@BorisLoveDev

The question is closed, the
following commands helped me to find a solution

  • sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop
    sudo apt-get install --reinstall unity
    sudo apt-get install --reinstall unity-control-center

Just replaced unity with gnome. That is, reinstalling the graphical shell helped
