fluxbox doesn't care about color depth, it's up to him.
Xserver handles color depth and resolution.
Its settings are highly dependent on the video card, so it's worth at least generating a basic config and starting to edit it, reading man 5 xorg.conf in parallel, if there is no GUI video mode configurator.
