Cryptocurrency mining?

The minimum requirement for mining is 4GB of RAM.
And if my laptop has 2GB of RAM, can I add the missing 2GB with a paging file (vertical memory)?

Yes. But you need to understand that the minimum / recommended requirements indicate the amount of RAM that provides (according to the developer) normal performance.
Using the swap file (especially if it's on an HDD rather than an SSD) will be significantly slower, meaning you can expect performance to drop. How much depends on many things, in particular on how the program works with memory.
