Is an upgrade relevant in this situation?
The question is probably more economic, but still)
There is a laptop with the following characteristics:
CPU: AMD Turion II P520
RAM: 2x2Gb DDR3
Video: Radeon 5470 with GDDR5 memory
HDD: some kind of WD 320 GB
Plus a disgusting 15.6 "display with a resolution of 1366x768: )
I use for coding in JS, C# + started to learn Unity.Rarely, but I edit videos in Sony Vegas.I play games only in old ones, like System Shock 2, in modern indies (whose system requirements have also been "pulled up") and platformers like Rayman Legends. But I play very rarely.
In general, while the computer is enough, but sometimes slight friezes in the responsiveness of the interface annoy (yes, I always have a lot of things running, but still) and, as always, I want to compile and render faster.
I don’t want to spend money, because in the current situation in the country and the hanging mortgage, it’s better to shrink, but cheaper iron is not expected, so I’m thinking of updating my computer somehow.
Options:
1. Change the laptop HDD to 500 GB from SSHD to 8 GB, and postpone the full replacement until a normal amount is allocated.
2. Buy a good motherboard, GB op.memory so 4 and a processor plug + monitor. Connect the PSU, HDD (they lie idle) and gradually change the processor to a normal one, then RAM, etc.
3. Leave everything as it is, and after six months buy normal hardware right away :)

all friezes in the work of a PC usually come either from a lack of operatives (4 are few) or from a clogged hard drive. It’s quite possible to change the hard one, but adding new RAM won’t work, because you’ll find a 4 GB bar for an old laptop, and if you find it, the price will be like for 16 gig of new memory.
For coding, you can try to put primocache, give it 200 meters of RAM to eat, you get something like this effect: 1 start of the studio, say 15 seconds, 2 and then start the studio for about 1 second. That is, it caches what you use and when it guesses which file you wanted, you get a HDD speed of about 8Gb / s.
"Change laptop HDD to 500 GB from SSHD to 8 GB, and postpone the full replacement until a normal amount is allocated."
It is better to change the HDD to an SSD 240 Gb or 120, if there is very little money, in order to later use it in the computer as a system one. And put the existing laptop HDD into a USB pocket and use it as storage. The laptop will become faster.
SSHD will not give you a performance boost. This is a dead-end branch of the development of carriers, and it has not justified itself. You will feel the difference only with an SSD, and the volume should be as large as possible, because. almost always the speed depends on the volume. Plus a good controller (not SandForce), and it will be fast. Although against the background of 5400rpm, any ssd will seem fast.
Upgrading RAM is also good, but you need to look at whether there is space (not all laptops have / available), whether there are brackets (used?), Is it economically feasible.
"Buy a good motherboard, GB RAM so 4 and a processor-plug + monitor. Connect a PSU, HDD (they are idle) and gradually change the processor to a normal one,"
- it is hardly economically feasible, although a desktop is always more convenient than a laptop for stationary work, and in terms of computational power for money, laptops are not a competitor at all
- if you do this, then:
- take a low middle-end or high low-end motherboard, i.e. to. you don’t need a cool mother - it’s
advisable to take 8\16 memory right away, it will be unprofitable to change the memory later
- the percentage plug is not ice, you want copying and rendering faster
. In general, if there is something to wait for, I would wait.
-- An idle HDD will be a brake on the entire system, there is no way without a system SSD now, so the budget should be larger
- it's not good without a case
