Perhaps the bootloader on the flash drive is in MBR, and Legacy / CSM is disabled in UEFI. Or vice versa, EFI, and the BIOS is old.
Try going to the boot menu instead of BIOS settings. This is usually f10 or f11

USB-HDD is a hard drive connected via USB
USB-FDD is a diskette drive via USB
