I watched courses on making money on a blog and the following question arose: I am a beginner php developer and I would like to create my own website on a certain topic. But I looked at a course on making money on a blog and I would like to know from more experienced people. ?If I make a website and users can register there and add their news and I can also earn money on advertising, etc. Then what is the difference between a website and a blog? Help me figure it out

Make a blog first, that is, a site where your articles are published. Then expand the functionality. The site will turn into a portal with many sections, one of which is a blog.
All this is good if you have really worthwhile content.

Do you need a website or make money?
If the site, then no matter what it will be.
If money, then create a high-quality and useful product. And you can promote it in social networks. So cheaper and faster.
You can forget about contextual advertising now. Incomes are meagre. The main advertising money is kept by the advertising agency.
