Contractual relations with developers from Ukraine. Really?

Colleagues, we need advice from the collective mind.
I am a resident of the Russian Federation, I want to order a website from a web studio from Ukraine.
I plan to conclude an agreement, but given the current realities, the potential recovery of money seems problematic in case of problems.
Tell me, please, how can you protect yourself from "scammers" from a foreign web studio?

Through a freelance exchange, there is a Safe Deal.

If you haven’t concluded anything yet and I’m having such thoughts, then just change the studio to a local one. And the truth is, this will also not be a 100% guarantee from "scam".
And this is Ukraine or Belarus, etc. doesn't matter at all.
Alternatively, pay in installments for the work actually done.

Himself from Ukraine, unfortunately there are scammers everywhere, BUT if you conclude an agreement, what is the problem then? In fact, price = TK = work.

Pay in installments, for each work performed.
A deposit, and then for each percent of the work, if everything is done perfectly, they paid.
And it's stupid to pay the whole amount at once. You may not like how they work at all or they will refuse to fix after the work has been done.
Yes, and it is proved that when the developer has not yet received the entire amount, then he has more desire to work and do everything on time :)

Personally, my experience of cooperation with Ukrainian companies and specialists is sharply negative. They merge, disappear, and then you won't get anything from them.
On this occasion, I even wrote an article about how to protect yourself from such cases: solodukha.com/kak-ne-oblazhatsya-zakazyvaya-razrab...
Your position is clear. Ukrainian specialists are cheaper, companies charge less money, etc. And the natural position is to protect yourself. I can recommend strictly dividing the work into stages and paying 50/50%, or even agreeing on a post-payment for each stage, explaining exactly your situation.
Real contracts in your case will not work. And if they do, then it will be unrealistic to dispute something. Such contracts are usually entered into within one jurisdiction and usually under English law.
