Chromebook as a child's first laptop?

I’m thinking of taking the first laptop for a child (primary school age) and I can’t decide whether it makes sense to take a chromebook, or is Win 10 better?
The Chromebook has the following advantages:

  1. ease of interface and settings
  2. security
  3. price

And for win10-beech
  1. versatility
  2. sea of software

The main catch is that there is not a single acquaintance who would have experience using a Chromebook. How good is it as a first laptop? How strong are the problems with limited software? What are the pitfalls to think about?

I have a friend in the states, he has a son in the 9th grade. The son said that he did not need Windows 10. That he had enough of what the Chrome browser can do. We got a Chromebook and are happy with it. He does not play games on it, he has a PS4 for this

Make a list of software that a student needs / will need in the future and build on this. A lot of software is represented by only one platform.
In my opinion, win10 will win, if only because you can put a virtualbox virtual machine with any environment on it, while there seem to be no virtual boxes on Chromebook yet.
