Choosing a 24'' monitor

Now I have a Samsung SyncMaster 940n that has been running for almost 8 years now. Now I want something bigger. I stopped at a diagonal of 24'' with a resolution of 1920x1200. The monitor is needed mainly for coding, occasionally - for games.
Does it make sense to buy a monitor on * VA or IPS matrix for these purposes? I would still like a better image than it is now. Or is the difference between the picture of TN matrices and the rest not too great?
The laptop also has a screen with a TN matrix, but the picture looks much more juicy than on a monitor that is quite yellow. Although maybe this is due to the fact that the laptop has a glossy screen and not a matte one?

Instead of U2312HM, U2412M is better, at least 16:10. There recently a new revision just came out www.overclockers.ru/lab/61405/Populyarnyj_dolgozhi...
