Can I use a 1000mb internet cable with a 100mb router?

There is a twisted pair cable with 8 cores. Connected tariff up to 1000mb. When connecting, the master said that a router is needed for a gigabyte. The question is, will such an Internet work normally (apart from the speed limit) through a regular, cheaper router that does not support 1000 MB?

It will, but the speed will be 100 megabits, obviously.

All this is true, but the master also wants to eat. 100% he had a suitable router with him. :-)
