Can fiber optic cable be used with more fibers than necessary?
My ISP uses single fiber optic cable.
Now I want to pre-purchase fiber optic cable and run it through a plastic conduit underground in a private house, and then just call the provider to connect.
Q: What if I buy a cable with 4 or 8 fibers for example. Will there be any incompatibility between them? What is the advantage between the number of fibers in a cable?

more fibers - more connections.
and so you need to check with the provider which fiber he uses, otherwise there is an option that your fiber cannot be welded with them
You can use it, the question is where and where are you going to stretch the cable? The ISP will only use one fiber anyway, and most likely defaults to non-outdoor cross-connects, so thanks for the mortgage, but let them put their own cable. Discuss the issue with support.
