Can I connect a SATA 2 drive to SATA 3?

In general, the essence of the question is this: I want to buy a hard drive with a SATA 2 interface, but the motherboard has SATA 3. Is it possible to connect such a hard drive to the motherboard and what will be the consequences? Thanks in advance for your answers.

And sata2 to sata3 is possible, and sata3 to sata2.

SATA2/SATA3 backward compatible, yes, you can connect, but the speed will be SATA2.
