Can the WD Red HDD be used for games, music, photos and movies?

The only significant difference between red and other WD drives is the firmware with TLER.
A regular disk, if it encounters an unreadable sector, will try to read from it for a long time and hard.
WD RED with TLER will not make these attempts for more than 7 seconds (because the intended use is RAID, where such brooding will cause the controller to retire such a drive).
In practice, for desktop use, this function does not have any negative consequences.

What's stopping you? If there is enough speed and space - go ahead, if the speed is low - then we look towards the SSD.
