Buying a vacant domain

For the first time I came across such a topic, but since I heard a lot about the incorrect behavior of the registrars themselves in this regard, I decided to apply.

We have:
domain .ru, released in 2 days,
registrar Ru-Center.

Task:
to redeem the vacant domain with minimal loss of time and money.

Who faced similar situations, what should be expected and are there any recommendations in this regard?

He won't be released right away. The domain will be turned off, but the rucenter will wait for another month to see if the owner pays.

apply for pre-registration of the domain. 95% that this domain will register the rucenter against other registrars.
further, if there were no other applications for this domain, then the rucenter will transfer it to you, if there were, a closed auction will be held where minimal losses of funds are not expected.
there will be more applications for the domain if it had a bird or pr or some kind of traffic.

Once (September 17, 2009) I faced such a situation.
Submitted a preliminary application for a vacant domain. Ru center wrote spam, stating that there is more than one application for a domain and an auction will take place.
My initial bid was the second of two bidders. I suspect that the first contender is RuCentre. But the "bot" did not make any bets at all.
I'm lucky. Lost 150 rubles, but got the right domain name.

I used their registration of the released domain.
First, it must be taken into account that the auction is closed. Those. it cannot include people from the outside who did not apply before the release of the domain.
Secondly, you will not be able to participate in the auction if you do not make a deposit, like, 750 rubles.
Well, you cannot refuse to participate if your bid is the leading or second.
The recommendation, as for any auction, is to bid at the last moment, i.e. in the last half hour. There is also an “auto-broker” function - you set the maximum amount, and the bot automatically outbids competitors’ bids until it reaches this amount.

If the domain is registered in the rucenter, then after the release, it usually goes up for auction, and its ransom is 3500 rubles. (blitz price)

In the magazine System Administrator October 2010, an entire article: called RU-Center Registration of a vacant domain. Very detailed and clearly explained.
