Building a budget cnc router?

Are there people who made their own machine?
Let me know what problems you are facing.
Recently on Habré there was a topic on creating a machine, and it contained links to self-assembly kits, including engines, a control module and a power supply unit. But I'm not sure whether the power of these engines will be enough, which shafts to use and what is easier to make a frame from for the stability of the entire structure.
Or are there ready-made inexpensive machines for home use that can cut through material (plywood, wood) with a thickness of more than 10mm?
I will also be grateful for links to articles and topics with a discussion of this issue.

It all depends on what you consider expensive and what is not. And what will be the workload of the machine. Now many manufacturers put CNC modules on machines. That is, a CNC milling for metal can be bought for 150-180 thousand, but this is such a city. On the one hand, the CNC seems to allow you to set quite high accuracy, on the other hand, the iron of the machine itself cannot withstand, backlash and so on.
I advise you to google, look for cheap CNC milling machines. The Chinese make a lot of these. But I repeat, it is not a fact that it will not fly with you in six months.

Of course, there are cheap inexpensive ones, before the rise in the exchange rate it was possible to buy for 145,000 now, alas, more expensive. True, it is suitable for only non-ferrous metals, alas, it is not intended for harder ones.

Now it’s easier to buy a ready-made CNC milling machine, here https://rdm24.ru/ , for example, you can take high-quality Japanese Roland machines, you can also order all the software for them there.
