Browser crash when uploading wtf photos

Hello.

There was a very definite misfortune and began to zagalbyvat - all browsers began to fall when loading images anywhere. The scenario is this - pressing the "upload" button, a standard Windows dialog appears with a file selection, ANY action in this dialog leads to a freeze for 10 seconds and the subsequent "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed" or equivalents of other browsers. I use the latest Firefox, Chrome and IE on Win8 Pro 64. After restarting the browser in this way, the problem disappears. Until the next launch.

Thanks for the possible advice.

windows?
Classic, they installed some kind of another shitty video player on the computer, which installed crooked and old versions of codecs behind it, because of which the thumbnail generation code is not processed correctly, it crashes programs that try to display a list of files in the current directory.
Use Windowds Media Codeck Pack and Windows Media Player Classic, it comes with utilities to find and remove crookedly installed codecs.
ps There are less cases when the explorer tries to display the icon of a crookedly created file (wrongly shoved resources, crooked lnk, I remember there was an article on Habré when a vulnerability found in the explorer that handles the icon of labels referring to itself was used for industrial espionage). In this case, you must manually find and delete this file using a more sane file manager, such as FAR.
