Becoming a Developer at 40: How Important Are Courses?

Good afternoon.
I am 38 years old and I am an electrician. For a year now, I have been studying Android development on my own with the aim of further changing my profession. I'm interested and it works.
How important / helpful are retraining courses (programming schools) in this regard (in terms of changing profession)? On the one hand, I feel that I can master their program myself (and save money). On the other hand, potential employers are looking at you from the side, and you are no longer "fuck off the mountain."

I have not seen good courses, although there may be some.
The main objective of the courses, as already mentioned, is to make money.
It's great that you like it and get it. This is the main thing in training, so as not to give up. Motivation is also important.
If at 40 everything works out, then I don’t see any problems in training. Make your own pet-project, implement any idea: a simple messenger, there, a game, whatever.
Employers look at real knowledge and skills. For example, I was very skeptical about candidates who sent me notes in their resumes that they had taken courses. For me, this was a signal that the person could not learn on his own and he was looking for dubious ways in courses of dubious quality.
So I would not recommend courses, but study on my own if there is a fuse. And without a fuse in our field, it’s impossible in any way;)
Good luck! You can do it!

The courses make money by teaching the basics.
This is their main goal.
Employers don't care about courses, because employers need employees, not people who have barely mastered the basics.
You can look at the program of courses, but it is better to look at the requirements of vacancies.
