Often in the vacancies of Western companies in the Requirements section they write:
BS in Computer Science or similar / equivalent experience.
What does it mean? Let's say I have a bachelor's degree in the humanities, but 5 years of experience as a programmer. Do I fit this definition?

Fits tight. If they directly ask for a diploma, then describe self-education in the field of CS.
