Are there DVRs with separate good cameras?

DD. In the car now I have a DVR with dimensions of 63x70x29mm, in general it seems to be compact, but somehow leaving it hanging in our town even during the day is dangerous, every time you have to remove and hide, while the latches and power are still visible, which can lead an attacker to think that there is something valuable in the car, while the price of the registrar is several times cheaper than the glass of the car. I’m also fond of cycling, I’m thinking about an action camera on a helmet, but again, the dimensions somehow let me down, I don’t want to cling such bandura to a helmet. Is it a problem in technology or laws like that? Where the hidden camera ends and "miniature DVR (for auto|action camera)" begins. After all, there are registrars for cars with two cameras - one looks forward at the road, and the back one is led back and shoots everything from behind.
Ideally, I would like to find something like:
11-640_270x270_pc.jpg
with a good camera, at least under honest 1080, with a good view, and some kind of recording device that records everything from a connected camera, if it can record from several such cameras, then it would be generally gorgeous. + sound of course; It would also be useful if such a device had its own battery to work at night or when using it on a helmet, i.e. the camera clings to the helmet, and the recorder either on the back of the helmet or somewhere on the body (shoulder, belt, leg, etc.). In fact, if you disassemble the phone, then you could do something like that from its parts, you could even call the helmet) but I need something simpler;
Well, actually the question is: how to be? Is there anything ready or semi-finished? Has anyone had any experience with this? Somehow I want to find something universal so that the car can "give eyes" and write down on the helmet where I rode, what I saw.

Ideally, I'd like to find something like

the quality of shooting is physically related to the geometric dimensions of the lens and matrix.
that is, a compact device cannot give a high-quality image.
what you saw about spy cameras in films, when a small newspaper text is read from the opposite end of the street with a pinhead camera - this was filmed by hefty movie cameras. And there is no Santa Claus either.
There is a small exception - light.
in bright daylight - the requirements for optics and the matrix are reduced. and from a compact camera you can get very decent images.
but at dusk - it immediately becomes clear what is the disadvantage of compact video systems.

There is a good, universal, but not ideal way to protect yourself from vandals - to replace the case of an expensive device with a cheap one, which would be logical to place in the same place. Hide the DVR in the doll, for example.

There are registrars built into the rear-view mirror, on some models the lens is not noticeable at all. Maybe this solution is right for you? in what you have in the picture, this is a toy ...
