Are there design books for people unfamiliar with design?

Not so long ago I started doing web-layout, something is already working, but something is not very good.
And the most difficult thing for me so far is the design.
How to make beautiful? How to make it convenient? How to draw a simple logo? What colors and fonts go well together?

Recommend something to read specifically on design, in all its manifestations, be it interfaces or identity, color or typography.

For a general understanding of why everything is so bad with design and what to do:
Donald Norman "Design of ordinary things"
Victor Papanek "Design for the real world"
Web:
Jakob Nielsen "Web design. Book by Jakob Nielsen"
Steve Krug "Web Design: Steve Krug's book or "don't make me think!"
Interfaces and Interaction:
Jeff Raskin
"New Directions in Computer System Design", "On the Interface"
Bruce Tognazzini "Main Principles of Interaction Design"
Fonts, Typography:
Jan Tschichold "The New Typography"
Emil Ruder "Typography"
About "Kovodstvo" have already been written. I omitted a few books that you will need if you go into design completely - there are about interaction with clients and all that. I also missed books on working with text. If you are interested - write, I will add to the list.

How to make it beautiful, how to make a logo is one thing.
How to make it convenient is already quite another.
You already decide :)
If you are typesetting, why do you need to design? If you are going to do design, you should have started with it, and not with layout :)

Whatever books you read, read in addition to all the "Guidance" from Artemy Lebedev. He interprets a lot of correct things.

Start with Johannes Itten 's course "The Art of Form " and "The Art of Color ", much will fall into place on its own. The book may at first seem too simple or, conversely, too complicated, but without it, it seems it makes no sense to start looking at more specialized design books (which, however, will still reference or quote it in one way or another, but most likely too fluently for sufficient understanding). It covers all the main issues of graphic design in a very logical and coherent way, it is really a reference book for most graphics professionals.
In the transition from abstraction to text, these are Tschichold andRuder in This is, let's say, a necessary minimum before reading specialized literature or tutorials. I can also recommend practicing on paper with a brush and pen, any exercises in composition and type, so that later it would be easier to transfer the physics of the real world to an electronic canvas. typography .

If you need to go really fast / don't have time to read several books: Design For Hackers (by David Kadavy). Qualitatively chews the main areas of design at a low level. There is no translation into Russian.
